Tedeschi Trucks Band
On October 27 next year, all lovers of blues rock and generally exceptional concert experiences should mark their calendars. For the first time ever, the Tedeschi Trucks Band will come to the Czech Republic, preceded by the reputation of one of the best live music groups. The twelve-member group, led by the married couple, singer and guitarist Susan Tedeschi and virtuoso slide guitarist Derek Trucks, which includes a brass section or two drummers, excels in concerts with great energy and musical mastery. They combine blues, roots rock, soul and jazz in their music, for their debut Revelator they won the Grammy in the category of the best blues album in 2012 and several times as the band of the year they won the prestigious Blues Music Awards. The concert for the session will take place in the Karlín Forum in Prague, tickets are on sale in the Ticketmaster network from 29 November. The concert is organized by the Liver Music agency as part of the Bluefest festival.
“It will be the biggest concert blues event of the season and a dream come true for many fans of this music. Tedeschi Trucks Band is the most common name that visitors to our events want. We have been trying for them for several years, it is a huge success,” emphasize Petr Pošvic and Radim Svatoň from the organizing Liver Music agency.
“Their performances represent two hours of pure joy, when you establish a very close emotional connection with them,” said foreign reviews in response to one of the visitors to the Tedeschi Trucks Band concert. And the review adds: “Their live music has the power of a freight train. The singing of Susan Tedeschi and Mike Mattison sounds great. Derek Trucks’ almost trance guitar solos have shot many visitors to another planet. Each of the musicians gradually performed an extraordinary mastery, whether on drums, keyboards, bass guitar, vocals or, of course, slide guitar.”
The Tedeschi Trucks Band was formed in 2010 as a joint project of Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi, who NPR describes as “two of the best roots rock musicians of their generation.” They have toured the world since their inception, and their live performances are eagerly awaited – from sold-out concerts in the United States, through Europe and Japan, to the Wheels of Soul summer tour, which is their concert flagship.
As the last record so far, the band released a live double album Layla Revisited (Live At LOCKN ‘) with guest guitarist Trey Anastasio, which captured the now legendary live performance of the band’s classic Derek and the Dominos. Their discography also includes studio recordings Signs (2019), High & Mighty EP (2019), Let Me Get By (2016), Made Up Mind (2013) and Grammy Award-winning debut Revelator (2011), as well as live recordings nominated for Grammy Live From The Fox Oakland (2017) and Everybody’s Talkin ‘(2012).
This year, the band returned to the studio to write and record a number of new songs for their next album. The result is an extensive and conceptual series of recordings that looks like one of the most interesting projects in the band’s history. The album is being prepared for release in 2022.
Tedeschi Trucks Band consists of Susan Tedeschi (guitar, vocals), Derek Trucks (guitar), Gabe Dixon (keyboards, vocals), Brandon Boone (bass), Tyler “Falcon” Greenwell (drums), Isaac Eady (drums), Mike Mattison ( vocals), Mark Rivers (vocals), Alecia Chakour (vocals), Kebbi Williams (saxophone), Ephraim Owens (trumpet) and Elizabeth Lea (trombone).
Tickets are available in the Ticketmaster pre-sale network. The concert is organized by the Liver Music agency as part of the Bluefest series.
