Her biggest hit, Total Eclipse of The Heart, literally tore the rankings of world charts. The single that Tyler recorded in 1983 sold more than nine million copies around the world. A year later Tyler recorded the song I Need a Hero. It was originally intended for a soundtrack to the film Footloose. It didn’t get lost in the memories, unlike the film, and has literally become the anthem of today's youth. Her third most important song is the ballad It’s a Heartache. Even though she recorded at the same time as her colleague Juice Newton Tyler’s version of the song occupied the highest positions on the most important charts around the world.
Bonnie Tyler’s songs became the inspiration for Czech writers and performers. Waldemar Matuska, Karel Gott and Marie Rottrová all sang different versions of the song It’s a Heartache. Many will certainly remember the catchy text by Eduarda Krečmar called Jen se Hádej. Lucie Vondráčková scored with the song Ať je jak vítr, which, in the original, is Bonnie Tyler’s I Need a Hero.
